Hello and welcome! Thank you for starting on this journey with me!
My name is Kelly Cliffords. I am the owner of Home Handyman LLC. I will get to more about me later, but I want to introduce you to this blog and how it is going to be of value to you. I receive a lot of the same jobs over and over again. This blog is going to equip you with the knowledge to do some of these projects yourself as well as some cool custom projects as well.
It Comes From Being There Myself
I want you to be in full control of you home. When my wife and I bought our first home, it was a "fixer upper" to put it gently. It was what we could afford. We completely remodeled the house. Flooring, cabinets, tile, bathroom, shelving, painting. The whole bit. I had no idea what I was doing! Luckily some of the building materials came with instructions on the packaging and there is a wonderful thing called youtube. I still caught myself wondering if I was doing it right. As well as wasting 20 minutes trying to find my spot in a video as I was doing the project along side the video.
The Nightmare I want to Help You Get Through
I had to retile the shower at one point. A leaky shower. There was only the main house water shut off valve that would stop this shower from dripping. Well, The shower base has to not have water constantly dripping on it when you replace the base and let the tile mortar cure.
I found out from some online forums that it was the shower cartridge that was the problem. Great. I had no idea how to replace that and when I tried, it was completely stuck. I could not get it out for the life of me. So I called a plumber. The plumber let me know it would be $300 and 3 weeks before he could get to me.
This was our only shower. That was completely torn apart at this point. How was I going to tell my wife we could not shower for 3 weeks.... So with a fit of desperation I heated up the cartridge and put an oversized bolt into the hole to get enough leverage to pull it out. And it worked! I do not know how I thought of it, but it worked. 5 Trips to Home Depot and I finally had the right cartridge to replace it and no more leaks so I could replace the shower and make everyone happy again!
These are the kind of tips you do not find anywhere on the internet. Hence why I am going to start. Every man should have the pride of being able to take care of his home and get that honey do checklist completed.
You can do this. You are big and strong and brave! Come with me on this journey and you might find yourself with a happy wife, a well maintained house, and a few custom projects you can brag to your friends about.
